I first became interested in a more holistic view of health back in 2001 when I met a naturopath & osteopath who really helped me regain my health when more conventional forms of medicine hadn’t worked. Although it took me more than a few years to take the leap and start my own studies, he really inspired me and I owe a lot to his wisdom about health and the body.
I qualified as a holistic massage therapist in 2006 and went on to study seated acupressure massage in 2007. The different styles of these massage techniques have allowed me to explore the different ways massage can benefit people. I worked in a busy call centre giving 20 minute seated massages to fatigued employees. It was so nice to see the benefits even such a short massage could give and how much it acted as a pick me up to tired muscles and minds.
I have continued to develop my skills over the years and attended different workshops to study particular techniques such as trigger point therapy and deep tissue techniques. Most recently I have been studying with the inspirational teacher and therapist Beata Aleksandrowic. Her “Pure Massage” techniques are simple yet effective and there is a wonderful rhythmic, dance like nature to this treatment that causes the body to enter a deep state of relaxation. There is a real emphasis on “listening” to the body through the treatment so that it is possible to work really deeply but always with awareness.
I really enjoy continuing to learn and develop as a therapist and bring lots of warmth and happiness into my treatments. I am inspired by my work and by the clients who come to see me. The human touch is so powerful and so important in our increasingly busy lives and I enjoy being able to share this great therapy with others.
